GPS (Global Positioning System)

A dedicated satellite navigation system, developed and operated by the US government. It provides worldwide positioning, navigation and synchronization services.

GNSS (Global Navigation Satellite System)

This is a generic term for all satellite navigation systems. This includes GPS, but also other systems such as:

• GLONASS (Russia)
• Galileo (European Union)
• BeiDou (China)
