S-AIS Kinéis Data:
Anti-Spoofing, Precision, and European Solution
Unmatched Maritime Data Reliability
Kinéis, with its network of nanosatellites equipped for AIS missions, offers reliable and high-performance solutions, specially designed for the most complex maritime environments, particularly in high-traffic areas.
An unmatched reliability in dense maritime areas
The complexity of maritime communication
When maritime traffic is light, particularly far from the coast, ships communicate less frequently and in smaller numbers, making it easier to receive their messages. However, a satellite covers a diameter of 5,000 km, making it difficult to distinguish conversations when the flow of information increases.
With Kinéis technology, it becomes possible to effectively manage this challenge, minimizing interference and avoiding "message collisions," even when many ships are transmitting simultaneously.
The S-AIS Kinéis solution
The S-AIS technology from Kinéis proves to be particularly effective in areas of high maritime traffic (such as the Gulf of Mexico and the Suez Canal), where data accuracy and reliability are essential.
With our state-of-the-art multi-strand antenna, we ensure superior quality AIS data even in the busiest shipping lanes. This allows our distributor partners and solution providers to effectively meet maritime security requirements and make informed decisions.
Ground information processing
Data processing continues on the ground. The data and measurements transmitted by the satellites are received by one of the 20 nearest Ground Reception Stations (GRS), then sent to the Mission Control Station (MCS), to our ground processing platforms and on to the end users.
A high-performance multi-strand antenna
Unlike satellites using a single antenna, Kinéis satellites are equipped with a 6-element multi-strand AIS antenna. This allows them to capture signals from multiple directions and at staggered times for the same message, significantly increasing data accuracy. With this unique configuration, signals from ships are captured by each of the 6 independent stainless steel strands, significantly increasing the reception rate in high-density areas.
An advanced data processing
The processing of the 6 captured signals is complex. Our onboard payload integrates cutting-edge algorithms to address jamming issues. This receiver, or "box," is equipped with advanced technologies. The initial processing of the data is carried out onboard the satellite using the Kinéis algorithm.
Safety at the core of our S-AIS solutions
Kinéis puts safety first. Our advanced anti-spoofing system, based on a powerful detection algorithm, the Doppler effect and our multi-strand antenna, enhances the reliability of AIS data. It distinguishes legitimate signals from falsified ones, guaranteeing the integrity of critical ship information. This makes Kinéis an indispensable partner for those who need reliable data to ensure maritime safety and security.
Operational efficiency
Using Kinéis AIS data enables our distributors and solution providers to improve the performance of their products. By guaranteeing reliable and secure data to their end-users, we help optimize the operational efficiency of their services.
A trusted European solution
Data security and sovereignty
At Kinéis, autonomous data management is a priority. All information collected by our satellites is processed and stored in France. Today, many institutions depend on non-European services. It is crucial for Europe to develop its own surveillance and maritime security tools. By relying on an all-European constellation, we ensure access to S-AIS data, free from outside influences.
Recognized European satellite expertise for IoT
Kinéis has already been operating 9 satellites in orbit for several years. We are deploying a new constellation of 25 satellites, further enhancing the precision and reliability of our services. We are also integrating IoT technologies to collect and analyze data in near-real time. This enables our customers to optimize their operations and make informed decisions in a variety of sectors, from logistics and shipping to energy and agriculture.
Optimization of S-AIS algorithms
Significant advances have been made by CNES and ESA to improve the performance of S-AIS technology, particularly in high-traffic areas. The algorithms present in the payloads of Kinéis' AIS satellites, have been adapted and optimized to meet today's challenges. In 2014, Thales Alenia Space rose to the challenge by integrating these optimizations into the Kinéis satellites, despite in-orbit computing constraints: a true technical feat.
100% French manufacturing
For the industrialization of its nanosatellites, Kinéis has joined forces with renowned French partners such as Thales Alenia Space, Comat, Cobham and Hemeria. The project also benefits from technical and financial support from CNES and CLS, testifying to the strength of French industrial expertise in the space sector.
