What is NRI - Nominal Reporting Interval?

The NRI (Nominal Reporting Interval) is the standard time interval between data transmissions from a vessel in a tracking system, such as S-AIS. It determines the frequency at which information on a vessel’s position, speed, and heading is updated and transmitted.

It is set at regular intervals to ensure accurate tracking without overloading the network. The NRI is crucial for Kinéis' S-AIS system, as it ensures regular and reliable position data updates.
