What is an IMO number?
The IMO number is a unique 7-digit identifier assigned to each commercial vessel by the International Maritime Organization (IMO).
- Permanent identification: Remains the same even if the ship's name or ownership changes.
- Format: Composed of 7 digits, the first 3 of which indicate the type of vessel.
- Use: Included in maritime documents to facilitate traceability, incident management and regulatory compliance.
The IMO number is essential to accurately identify and track vessels for Kinéis S-AIS connectivity.
